Chinese Medicine Reference Group

The National Registration and Accreditation Scheme (the National Scheme) regulates more than 960,000 registered health practitioners and over 180,000 registered students across 16 health professions.

Applications are sought from members of registered Chinese medicine practitioners and members of the community for appointment to the Chinese Medicine Reference Group (the Reference Group) of the Chinese Medicine Board of Australia (the Board).

The purpose of the Reference Group is to engage stakeholders to foster communication and a common understanding of the work of the Board and the broader functions of the National Scheme and to assist the Board in progressing its core business.

 The Reference Group:

  • provides an opportunity for members to raise and report on any issues of interest and/or concern that may relate to the functions of the Board, and
  • assists the Board to monitor the effectiveness of existing accreditation and registration requirements and related processes for the Chinese medicine profession over time.

The National Scheme has an important role in ensuring the development of a culturally safe and respectful health workforce that is responsive to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples health and contributes to the elimination of racism in the provision of health services.

To achieve this, we have committed to increasing Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander leadership and voices on the Board and its committees and warmly invite Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islanders to apply.

The National Scheme is also committed to providing an environment that embraces and values equity, diversity and inclusion. We strongly encourage people of all abilities and backgrounds to apply, particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, culturally diverse people, people with a disability, carers of a person with a disability, people living in rural or remote areas of Australia and people who identify as LGBTIQA+. If you need an adjustment or support during the recruitment process, we encourage you to advise us at the time of application.

Applications will be assessed by a selection advisory panel and appointments will be for a two-year term, with eligibility for reappointment.

More information about the role, eligibility requirements and the application process can be found in the Information guide and Terms of Reference.
