The National Registration and Accreditation Scheme (the National Scheme) regulates more than 875,000 registered health practitioners and over 180,000 registered students across 16 health professions. 15 health profession boards and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) work together to deliver the National Scheme.
The Psychology Board of Australia (the Board) has established national committees who work in partnership with Ahpra to make registration and notification (complaint) decisions about individual practitioners, based on national policies and standards set by the Board.
Vacancies for community members have arisen on the following committees:
- Psychology Immediate Action Committee
- Psychology Notifications and Compliance Committee
We are seeking individuals with an ability and interest to contribute to the regulatory work of the committees. Community members will have strong community connections to bring a public/lay perspective.
Location: Committee meetings are held online via Microsoft Teams.
Time commitment: Time commitment varies, approximately one to two days per month, including reading and preparation time.
Term of appointment: Appointments made by the Board and are for up to three years, with eligibility for reappointment. Positions commence in mid 2025.

Eligibility: A person is not eligible to be appointed as a community member if they are currently, or have previously been, a registered psychologist. Preference will be given to applicants who are not registered health practitioners in any health profession. Psychology students are not suitable for appointment as a community member. Employees and contractors for Ahpra are not eligible for these positions. Due to co-regulatory arrangements, New South Wales applicants are not eligible to apply for these positions.
Training and development: Orientation program and ongoing training provided. Participation at conferences or in professional development activities may be required. All members must complete cultural safety training conducted by Ahpra.
Our commitment: The National Scheme has an important role in ensuring the development of a culturally safe and respectful health workforce that is responsive to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples health and contributes to the elimination of racism in the provision of health services. We have committed to increasing Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander leadership and voices and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples are warmly invited to apply, as are people from rural or regional areas.
