National committees of the Chinese Medicine Board of Australia

The National Registration and Accreditation Scheme (the National Scheme) regulate more than 960,000 registered health practitioners and over 180,000 registered students across 16 health professions.

Applications are sought from experienced registered Chinese Medicine practitioners and members of the community for appointment to the following committees of the Chinese Medicine Board of Australia (the Board):

• Policy Planning and Communications Committee (PPCC)
  • one registered Chinese medicine practitioner member vacancy
• Registration and Notifications Committee (RNC)
  • one community member vacancy
  • one registered Chinese medicine practitioner member vacancy
    
    

Purpose of the Committees

PPCC

The PPCC is an advisory committee that supports the Board’s strategic planning, policy development and communications by identifying and providing advice on emerging issues, fostering stakeholder engagement, promoting the Board’s role and activities, and facilitating effective information sharing. The PPCC does not have delegated decision-making authority.

RNC

The RNC considers applications for registration and assesses notifications and compliance matters relating to Chinese medicine practitioners.

Registered Chinese medicine practitioner applicants (PPCC, RNC)

Registered practitioner applicants must have at least five years clinical experience in Australia and a minimum qualification of a bachelor’s degree of Chinese Medicine.

It is preferred, but not essential, that practitioner applicants are registered in at least two of the three divisions of the Chinese Medicine register.

Community member applicants (RNC)

Community member applicants should have an understanding of, and experience with, Chinese medicine and community expectations, while bringing an independent perspective. Applicants should also demonstrate a strong commitment to public safety, including patient and community safety, and an understanding of health regulation in Australia.

Applicants with insight into community expectations regarding safe and ethical health care will be viewed favourably. Experience serving on decision making or regulatory boards and committees will also be considered an advantage.

Members must maintain confidentiality and demonstrate sound judgement, discretion and the ability to discern relevant information when considering complex or sensitive matters.

Applications will be assessed by a selection advisory panel, with successfully shortlisted applicants invited to an interview. 

Appointments for each vacancy will be for a term of two years, commencing in January 2027.
