Help protect the public and set national standards for registered health practitioners
The National Boards (the Boards) work in partnership with Ahpra to manage the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme (the National Scheme). The Boards regulate Australia’s 960,000 registered health practitioners and 180,000 registered students across 16 health professions. These Boards consist of community members and practitioner members (who are registered in the relevant profession) and set the professional standards practitioners must meet to be registered and safe to practise.
Applications are now open for seven practitioner member vacancies on the following National Boards:
Chiropractic Board of Australia*
|
1 vacancy - practitioner from New South Wales
|
Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia*
|
2 vacancies – 1 practitioner from Queensland and 1 from South Australia
|
Osteopathy Board of Australia
|
3 vacancies – 1 practitioner from South Australia, 1 from Victoria and 1 from Australian Capital Territory, Northern Territory or Tasmania
|
Psychology Board of Australia

Please note: State or territory eligibility requirements apply as indicated. If a state or territory is not included in this round it is because a member from this state or territory is already appointed to the National Board.
*Registered practitioners from these professions are eligible to apply for the position of Board Chair (jurisdictional eligibility requirements apply as indicated above).

The National Registration and Accreditation Scheme has an important role in ensuring the health workforce is culturally safe, respectful, responsive to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ needs and promotes the elimination of racism in health care.
To help achieve this, we are committed to increasing Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander leadership and voices on National Boards and warmly encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples to apply.

If you are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and would like to talk about these opportunities, please email mobvoices@ahpra.gov.au.
The National Scheme is also committed to providing an environment that embraces and values equity, diversity and inclusion. We strongly encourage people of all abilities and backgrounds to apply, particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, culturally diverse people, people with a disability, carers of a person with a disability, people living in rural or remote areas of Australia and people who identify as LGBTIQA+. If you need an adjustment or support during the recruitment process, we encourage you to advise us at the time of application.
