Appointment to the Ahpra Community Advisory Council

Are you an active and engaged health consumer with lived experience who can represent the interests of the community?

  • Join a well-respected and effective advisory council that provides Ahpra and the National Boards with advice and connection with communities and health consumers
  • Help shape important standards regulating health practitioners, how Ahpra engages with consumers, and provide consumer perspectives and advice on relevant issues

Ahpra works in partnership with 15 National Boards to regulate more than 875,000 registered health practitioners and over 180,000 registered students across 16 health professions.

The following persons are ineligible for appointment, in perpetuity:

  • anyone who has served as a member on the Ahpra Board (formerly the Agency Management Committee), National Board or its committees in the National Scheme
  • a currently or formerly registered health practitioner, or
  • anyone who has been employed by Ahpra.

The National Scheme has an important role in ensuring the development of a culturally safe and respectful health workforce that is responsive to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples health and contributes to the elimination of racism in the provision of health services.

To achieve this, we have committed to increasing Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander leadership and voices on the Ahpra Board and warmly invite Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples to apply.

We are also committed to increasing diversity and social inclusion. Applications are strongly encouraged from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples,  young people, people with a disability, LGBTIQA+ people, people from rural and remote areas in Australia and people from culturally diverse backgrounds.

More information about the role, eligibility requirements and the application process can be found in the Download File Terms of reference and Download File Information guide.

Information and tips on how to use PageUp is outlined in the Download File PageUp applicant instructions.
