The National Registration and Accreditation Scheme (the National Scheme) regulates more than 875,000 registered health practitioners and over 180,000 registered students across 16 health professions.

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practice Accreditation Committee (the Accreditation Committee) is seeking applications from registered Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health practitioners to be included on a list of approved accreditation assessors who may be appointed to accreditation assessment teams.

The Accreditation Committee establishes accreditation assessment teams to assess education providers and their programs of study against the accreditation standards.

Assessment Teams will generally be composed so that the combination of assessors provides coverage of the following areas:

  • current registration with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practice Board of Australia
  • sound knowledge of the education system and experience in teaching and learning, and
  • sound knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practice.

The National Scheme has an important role in ensuring the development of a culturally safe and respectful health workforce that is responsive to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples health and contributes to the elimination of racism in the provision of health services.

We are also committed to increasing diversity and social inclusion. Applications are strongly encouraged from young people, people with a disability and people from the LGBTIQA+ community.

Interstate travel may be required to participate in site visits or monitoring visits from time to time.

Applications will be assessed by a selection advisory panel and the appointments will be made by the Accreditation Committee.

Appointments are expected to commence in January 2025.

More information about the role, eligibility requirements and the application process can be found in the Information guide.
