Call for applications for appointment to the Registration and Notifications Committee

The National Registration and Accreditation Scheme regulates more than 709,000 registered health practitioners and over 160,000 registered students across 16 health professions.  It also accredits over 740 approved programs of study delivered by education providers.

The Chinese Medicine Board of Australia (the Board) is calling for applications from registered Chinese Medicine practitioners for appointment to the Registration and Notifications Committee (the Committee) to fill one non-board practitioner member vacancy.

The Committee has been established to decide applications for registration and to assess all notifications regarding Chinese Medicine health practitioners.

Other functions of the Committee include:

  • provide advice to AHPRA staff dealing with health complaints entities as required
  • advise the Board and AHPRA on the ongoing relevance and effectiveness of the provisions of the instrument of delegation with respect to the functions of the Committee
  • make recommendations and provide advice to the Board on relevant matters including the Committee structure, meeting format, schedule and procedures, emerging trends or issues relating to registration and notifications, and
  • consider and provide advice to the Board on matters as requested by the Board or exercise any other functions delegated to it by the Board relating to registration and notifications.

Applicants must have at least five (5) years clinical experience and a minimum qualification of a Bachelor Degree of Chinese Medicine. It is preferred that applicants are registered in at least two of the three divisions of the Chinese Medicine register.

The National Scheme has a commitment to increasing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ leadership and voices.  Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply, as are people from rural or regional areas in Australia.

Applications will be assessed by a selection advisory panel. The appointment is for a two-year term and is expected to commence in July 2019.
